Dear Simmers,

I recently bought the Piper III/IV and have some Questions:

1. Difference between NAV and OMNI in Autopilot?
The Manual gives same explanation for NAV and OMNI but it is recommended to only use OMNI Mode when using for VOR navigation. But it doesn´t say why and what the difference is!

Within the example Flight from the Manual, there is "NAV" used for VOR navigation. That differs from what the Manual says few pages back... Why?

2. Automatic Gear extension
Manual says, the Gear would extend automatically in certain circumstances... eg. manifold Pressure at or below 14 and Speed at or below 87 KIAS. The Gear lever should be in "Middle Position". Is there really a middle position of that lever simulated? It seems to have just "up" and "down"

I don´t get it. Any help is welcome...

I´ve found the manual for the AP. Now I´m starting to understand...

Ref no.2, the lever that it refers to is the one located between the two front seats, next to the pitch trim. That lever controls the automatic gear extension, and the gear position lever on the main panel just has the usual two positions.
