I agree with Ray. More information is required to help get to the bottom of what might be happening.
In addition to Ray's questions, here are a few more ...
· What are your system specs? Where is FSX installed (ie, is it in "C:\Program Files", or is it installed elsewhere)?
· Do you think this could be a VAS memory or OOM issue (if you don't know what VAS or OOM is, then just respond "don't know")? Are you getting any error messages or other potential warning messages or signs from FSX before it happens?
· Did FSX ever work OK? In other words, has it only just recently started freezing? If it has only just recently started freezing, then "what changed"? For example, perhaps you've been doing some tweaking, or maybe you just purchased and installed some new scenery or an aircraft?id FSX ever work
OK? In other words, has it only just recently started freezing? If
it has only just recently started freezing, then "what
changed"? For example, perhaps you've been doing some tweaking, or maybe you just purchased and installed
some new scenery or an aircraft?
· Can you describe what you mean by "freeze"? Does it just stop and nothing happens? Do the menus still work? What happens if you WAIT for, say, 5 minutes or so (does it magically resume, all by itself)? Or, does it simply crash to the desktop?
· Does the freeze only
occur when you click on a menu in FSX? That could be an indication you
need to modify a file called "uiautomation.dll".
· As this is the Traffic X forum, we are assuming you are using Traffic X (please confirm). Do you see any AI traffic at all? Is it the FSX default AI traffic, or is it Traffic X traffic (ie, you see Qantas Link, Virgin and other liveries)?
· When you are adding/editing flight plans to Perth and Honolulu etc, and then compiling, do you get any error messages? As part of the compile process, do you see a black screen? (Yes, you are supposed to see a black screen.) What does the LOG FILE say?
