After a problem with FSX I had to try a Microsoft repair, wrong it only made it worse, so had to delete and install again but this time my grass texture is brown and not green like before, anyone have any ideas why ?

most likely - when you did the Repair,,, it went and over wrote whatever files you had on there from whatever was there before,,,,
 
also go to ORBX Freeware asite and get the FREEWARE Grass Textures,, big improvement over default MS anyway,,,,
 
remember when you use that Repair disk,, it will over write files you've changed, back to original default,, most times, so, back up and save files before repair !
