The iconic DC-3 is celebrating its 75th birthday this year and we are pleased to have this most famous of transport aircraft in development for Flight Simulator X.

This fantastic package will feature the original Douglas DC-3, the USAAF’s C-47 and the RAF Dakota.

The different models will be clothed in a range of authentic liveries and the award-winning development team at Aeroplane Heaven is leaving no stone unturned in its drive to create the best simulated DC-3 ever built.

Hi Martyn,

Will you be using all custom gauges? i.e. not like the connie which used some modified default gauges?

Cheers,

Even if you end up using stock FS instruments in the cockpit, if the sounds, flight deck ambience, view out the window and flight dynamics are well done, you've got another customer here!

Best regards,

I just got track of this up-coming fantastic DC-3 project and looking forward to purchase it!
I always been a big admirer of this beauty and wondered why it never was developed in 'depth' for FSX. (The MAAM DC-3 was of course FS9 native)
Flew several times the real one as a passenger
Since the developers are putting in some additional features such as glider towing I wanted to highlight the glider-snatching operation during WW2. I thought it might be a good idea to simulate that in the package?
Here's a link to a YouTube video of the operation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-EFmKr7P0w - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-EFmKr7P0w

Thanks for choosing this great plane!

Very cool!

In picture number 8, is that a Buffalo Airways paint? And if that's correct, will it have a gps on top of the dash like the real one...? A "modernized" DC-3 if you will. Wink

Hi Wildbird,

That is a Buffalo Airways DC-3. It will  have a GPS unit pop-up, but unfortunately it isn't mounted on the dash.

Thanks

Okay, thanks for the reply. Would have been a nice touch though, for those of us planning to use the DC-3 in a modern setting. Smile

When you say expansion, what do you mean? Is it just another download, or something we need to pay extra for?

The pack is split into two sections - the base pack for £19.99 containing half of the models and liveries and the expansion pack containing the other half of the content for £9.99.

My credit card is eagerly awaiting the release of this plane. Looks really good.

Will there be a paint kit available for it?

I would love to be able to try and make a repaint of this Dizzy, still flying in sweden.

I like the look of this plane. But I am very wary. I read that this dc3 is being developed by Airplane Heaven. These are the same developers that showed no support for the many bugs in the Connie. That Connie was full of bugs that were never / and are still left unaddressed. It is still in need of a patch and according to Just Flight the developers are too busy to work on the patch or fix it's issues.

I fear that this DC3 could end up the same as the Connie. The Connie was also very visually pleasing and looked quite slick but full of problems and bugs especially in the VC. So please be very wary about this product too. There could be potentially no support also.

Hi,

Thank you for your comments regarding the DC-3 but there is no need to be wary of this aircraft.

There is absolutely no need to worry about the upcoming DC-3. I have spent many months working extremely hard to ensure that the product is going to live up to people's expectations. The DC-3 was developed by the team behind Aeroplane Heaven but rather than publishing the product (as we did with Constellation), DC-3 is a Just Flight product that has been managed from day one by our in-house team. This has allowed us to ensure that the aircraft is of the highest quality and will not disappoint the many hundreds of pre-order customers that are looking forward to this release.

Hopefully those customers who have purchased some of our recent titles (Battle of Britain 70th, Wildcat & Martlet, Spitfire MkV, S.E.5A etc) will be able to reassure you? If you look through our forums, and other forums such as SimOuthouse, you will see many positive comments.

I can assure you that DC-3 Legends of Flight will be a superb add-on!

Thanks

Martyn,
I think you can understand why I am wary.
So if I understand you correctly, The Connie was not done "in house" but the DC3 will be, even though the same developers are being used?
Whatever the case I still do not understand why another patch was unable to be released for the Connie. It seemed like it was just forgotten.
I have a few other Just Flight products and have been happy with them. I will take your word for it that these other planes that you posted links for do have satisfied customers. Are these planes also developed by Airplane Heaven?
Either way I am going to wait this one out and keep an eye on the forums and see what the response is like once it is released, before I commit to anything.
