very nice screenshots. Ive worked on the 767 many times, lovely machine. Ive noticed one small anomoly though :S..no fuel dump outlets on the trailing edges of the wing, they are quite noticable on the real thing, but otherwise very excited about this product

Looks great, but seeing as it is F-Lite can you tell us what systems are and aren't available?

F-lite are a 'light the fires and burn the tyers' series of add on so I'd expect there to be a basic FMC and a GPS.

Why are you going to charge £35 for it where as other f-lite models are only £19.99? Its a lot of money conpared to the C-130 and 757 Captain wich are £29.95.

Ohh that seems ok (except the boxed price). For £35 I'd want something more detailed. then F-lite.

I agree, it makes sense to charge more for both versions but very few people will actually use both, and £35 is a lot for a single F-lite boxed add-on.

£35 why would you buy an F-lite add-on for £35 when you could get the 757 Captain which is much more detaild for £30? This dosen't make any sense to me.

or meConfused. You could get the PMDG MD-11X for £40. So the F-lite 767 is going to be on a par with PMDG/Captain Sim add ons. If it was the CS 767 I might understand but F-liteConfused

I just don't understand the pricing.  Does it not seem logical to buy a more complex add-on which is cheaper than an add-on with reduced complexity?

I think it would be fair to compare like with like, which has not been the case up to now.

The products mentioned as alternatives are FSX-only. For £19.66 you can buy the F-Lite 767-200/300 by download for EITHER FSX or FS2004 and upgrade it with extra aircraft for £5.99 per sim. We think that's excellent value and a lot cheaper than, for example, the $79.99 quoted for the FSX-only MD-11. However, if you want a BOXED product that contains a printed manual, aircraft for BOTH sims, upgrades for BOTH sims, then the SRP is £34.99 - a lot cheaper than if you bought all the different versions individually. A download version of this full 'combo' package will be £29.99.
Naturally, there will be discounts to be had off the retail price of the boxed version. We'll probably offer a Just Rewards deal or some price incentive for anyone pre-ordering (and Play.com will probably do it for £4.99 with a free laptop). I hope this reassures everyone that we are not charging £35 for a single F-Lite aircraft, and if you want to get airborne in a fantastic 767 you can do it for less than £20.

Customers have told us that generally they only use one sim, so would prefer to buy products that are 'sim-specific' if this means they can save money by not paying for both versions. We've reacted to that with this product, but we also think there is a market for a 'complete' product on DVD.

I thought you liked complex add-ons?  Why didn't you go for the CS 767?

Sorry, we're not being deliberately aloof here and we will give some news out soon on this.  We're just weighing up options and making sure what we have we're happy with before committing to a final date.

We'll be back soon with some concrete details for you.

Traditionally, all computer games, records, books (and probably illuminated manuscripts in the days before Apple) are released on a Friday. The theory is that a product is built (printed, pressed, whatever) and ships on, say, the 22nd of the month. This gives the retailers and wholesalers a week to get stuff in store and then it goes on sale, or is 'released' the following Friday (29th) to get Saturday sales.

This is now a total anachronism. You can get gear from wholesale to retail in 48 hours and in any case, many people buy online or even by download. Also, Saturdays are no longer the days when da yoof took their pocket money down to W H Smiths to buy the latest single from their favourite beat combo. People now buy non-grocery items during the week! However, while retail still calls the shots the entertainment industry continues to pander to them. Note that when MW2 was released in retail (on PC) the download version on Steam was delayed for a couple of days - presumably so that retail stood a chance. Interestingly, it wasn't released on a Friday to deliberately make it 'different' - and also to ensure the requisite publicity of people queuing in the streets. Less exciting reason is that it was a Tuesday which is the traditional US release day.

We will happily release products on any day of the week, but if we had put 28th Jan on our release schedule I can guarantee someone would have called to tell us there was a mistake on our schedule "... just a typo - you've put 28th - that's a Thursday - don't you mean 29th?"
