Majorca Bombings

"A car bombing in the Spanish island of Majorca has killed two Civil Guard officers and led to ports and airports being shut for several hours."

"
The government has blamed both on the Basque separatist group Eta.

The group has been held responsible for more than 820 deaths during its decades-long campaign for an independent homeland in Spain's Basque region.

The bombs come ahead of the 50th anniversary of Eta's founding, on Friday."

Just been speaking to Edward Longe, he is there on holiday.  Luckily he is on the other side of the island, only problem is hes meant to be flying home tomorrow! Airports closed!

Good luck Eddie !

The pilots put their foot down to get outta there in case the airspace was closed!!

At least you're back safe.

Best regards,
Vulcan.

Enter a higher cost index.  Here is some figures that Delta use when delayed:  Medium-177  In a hurry- 377.

Those are awfully high, sure about those?  I had a lengthy chat with an AA 767 pilot after my flight across the atlantic to Boston a few weeks ago, and even with the delay we had at Heathrow (sequencing), we still only used a CI of 120 and flew at 32,000 - low for a 767 across the pond.

It depends on which FMC the aircraft has.  Some FMC can only accept 0-99 and others can accept 0-9999.

The figures that I posted are what Delta use and I found it in my Level D 767 manual.  I thought they seemed a bit high aswell.

I'm assuming we're using 0-999, I assume the 0-9999 is a typo from your part.  I would research the net to get accurate CIs, try asking the guys over at pprune, they know these things.  Also, one thing that struck me while I was talking with the pilot, is that they have a fixed CI for normal flights and that the CI is adjusted for each individual flight.  Surely if the CI was individually calculated, fuel savings could be found?

Sorry, that was a typo I ment to say 0-999Embarrassed

I found this link on CI which I think is quite good:

I remember on one of my ITVV DVD's on the Airbus the pilot used a CI of 23, I think this is about a normall figure when the a/c is on time, but I suppose it depends on the airlines SOP.

23 is rather high even for an Airbus today, I know that BA use 0 for climbing, and at cruise change it to 25.  If you want to do this on the wilco, use 20 and 45, as the wilco CI is wrong.
