Built in1947 as a replacement for the Bristol Bombay, the aircraft has served for many years as a car transporter and general freight carrier, used by several air forces including pakistan and New Zealand(now home to one of the last ones flying), A larger version the Superfreighter was identified by its longer nose allowing the carriage of an extra car, these were flown by Silver City airways on the Lydd-Boulogne shuttle service. the one shown here was used for race horse transport in the late 70s.
