What is the purpose of the multiple folders for some aircraft in the simobjects/traffic360/aircraft folders? ie, MON_1, MON_2 etc??? Each have different textures/paints for the same a/c.
Prob very simple.
Cheers
Mick

I think you have answered your own question.

Each aircraft type has different liveries for all the different airlines that fly it and therefore there's a folder for each of those liveries.

And, in some cases an airline has more than one livery on the same aircraft type, so there's a folder for each of those liveries too.

OK, for each aircraft type (let's say a 737) we've established that the different liveries are all in subfolders within the 737 folder. There are some other folders and files also in that 737 folder. One of the files is called "aircraft.cfg". Each aircraft type has it's own unique aircraft.cfg file. Inside that aircraft.cfg file, the separate liveries are matched up to each of the respective livery folders and are given a unique identifier name (title). The title name might be something like JF_B738_QF (for the Qantas livery), JF_B738_RY (for the Ryanair livery), JF_B738_DEL (for the Delta livery), and so on. (In my examples here the "JF" means Just Flight, and the "B738" means Boeing 737-800.) Note that each and every AI plane in the sim will have it's own unique title name, with no two names being the same. When the sim runs, it loads a special compiled file (usually called something like "AI_Traffic.BGL") that contains all of the details about all of the AI flights. The file includes, amongst other things, the scheduled time of a flight, the departure airport, the destination airport, and the title name of the livery to use. Therefore, based on the information within this .BGL file, the sim knows which liveries to load and show, where to show them, and what times to show them, etc etc.
