    Posted: 10 Aug 2008 at 10:47am

Hi

I have been using FC in FS2004 and loved it.  I now have only FSX installed and want to install my FS2004 version into FSX and use the patches.

Is this a good idea, is it even possible or should I just buy the FSX version outright.

I have the Fs2004 boxed version CD and the patches.

When I insert the disk, it suggest a FS2004 location to install to. SHould I just change this to the FSX location and apply the patches or is there more to it than that???

Thanks

Hi!

There is no need to buy a new version, I have the same package as you and got mine installed to FSX ok.

First you install the CD, but when asked for a location, change the default FS9 directory to your main FSX directory.

Then go to here, download the file and follow the instructions on the page.  Then it should work in FSX!  Just to reinstate what it says on that page, you must have a clean install of Flying Club on your computer before installing this patch (without any other patches installed), or this will not work correctly.

This should get it to work in FSX and SP1.  If you have Acceleration or SP2 installed, there are compatibility issues and it will not work correctly.  A patch is currently in development for this, but I am unsure when it will be released.

Hope this helps!
Kind regards,
Tom

If anybody wants it in both FS9 and FSX, you may find this useful:

Rob.

Dear Sir,

Thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately the update only allows you to install the Flying Club software in either FS2004 or FSX. However, if you do wish to use it in both at the same time you can do by following the below advice:

If you have the Flying Club installed in FS2004 then please go to Program Files>Microsoft Games (if that is indeed where you have installed FS to) and rename the Flight Simulator 9 folder to "Flight Simulator 9__). Now run the Flying Club uninstaller. The installer will run but will not remove any files as the path to these files is now different. You will now be able to run the Flying Club installer again and install to FSX and apply the updates. You can then rename your Flight Simulator 9 folder back and carry on as normal

I hope this is of help

Regards

Richard Slater

Request: I have this installed in FS9 and also want it in FSX. When I it into the drive I only get the repair/remove etc options, and no way to browse to FSX. Or have i missed something, which is likely..... Regards, Rob.

Thanks for the info.  Should be straight forward then because I just have FSX SP1 now, no FS9.

Thanks

Some really good useful information posted in this thread.  Its a pleasure to see, even though I do not have that particular product, but have the FSX version.  This is when the internet works at its best, when people are willing to help each other in this way.  Thanks guys.  Welcome to the forum Dr Watson, enjoy your stay.
