Hmmm. This forum's gone quiet.
And even the Traffic 360 forum is a little quiet as well. I guess everyone's waiting for the Traffic 360 Service Pack. Well, no bother ... I'm still happy with Traffic X. Using it to add and modify schedules, and doing repaints of aircraft. It's all good. |

Thats where I'm at Freddy. If it isn't out soon, and if it has missing features(repaint) I will be uninstalling and installing Traffic X. It doesn't seem to be much of a priority to release an update to TF360 . See ya later....... |

Even the US forum FSF is very quiet with only 5 or 6 posts a day. As tablets have taken over from PCs, interest in Flight Sim appears to be waning. X Plane do a mobile App.

Interest in Flight simulators was never really all that great. It is a very specialised hobby. That said, the flight simulation community is still very much alive and kicking. The "die-hards" will keep it alive, and the commercial uses for the airlines and military will certainly ensure flight simulation will be around for a long time. And, whilst there's still money to be made in the area of add-ons and improved fidelity etc, there will continue to be 3rd party companies out there who want to develop and improve the software.
As for tablets and phones, you are correct. They are indeed taking over from PCs. I think it is more of a younger generation thing ... it's the technology that the younger generation are currently embracing. And marketing departments are aiming squarely at that generation (and succeeding). I remember when computers were just starting out in homes ... it was a younger generation thing too. Now there's practically one in every home. Then this thing called the "Internet". That will never take off. But now everybody is on it in some way, shape or form. Unfortunately though, like vinyl LP records versus CDs, or VCRs versus digital PVRs and Internet downloading, everything has a finite lifespan. The days of the home PC may be numbered ... but the PC will still be a valuable commercial tool for many years to come yet. And, given that the PC is more powerful, and can be upgraded and improved easily as opposed to gaming consoles and tablets, I think the PC still has a place in the homes of those people who realise the benefits that a PC can provide over those other devices. I am no expert in social behaviour though ... so time will tell. As for flight simulation, it may still have a heart-beat in the form of die-hards, commercial uses and military uses ... but I do agree that interest appears to be dropping. As I said, I believe it's a generation thing ... the younger generation seem to care more about facebook and texting, on their phones and their tablets, than they do about flight simming, on their powerful, upgradable PCs. |

Still the same as the last time we/I gave an update. It went to the beta testers, it came back, we've worked on it some more and now it's being tested again. If it all comes back fine then it will be released, if it needs some more work then it will get worked on some more.
