"the VOR/DME selector" located on the VHF NAV Control Panel,  on the left side of the MCP.
It is described nowhere in the manual !

Anybody knows the answer ?
Many thanksCry

It chooses which co-located VOR/DME info is displayed. You need to tune to the VOR with the Nav radios. It'll then work like a traditional CDI/RMI does.

If you don't know what a VOR is, then best to Google it but the easiest way to think of it is a bicycle wheel on top of a ground station with spokes radiating out at 1 degree intervals. You can fly towards, or away from the station, along one of the spokes, and that's the radial you are on. Combined with the DME (distance measuring equipment), you'll know how far away you are, so you can plot a position.

VORs are used for navigation, and for IFR approach procedures to get onto the right approach path.

Thank you for your fast response.

In fact I do not understand the difference between the two "VOR/DME" selector positions : MANUAL or AUTO.
I also understand this selector to be used when not in AP mode am I right ?SmileThumbs%20Up

Ah, ok.

If Manual, the VOR frequency is set from the Nav radio frequency.

If Auto, it's set by the FMC.

I was told that the "auto/manual" switch is just a dummy, it doesn't actually do anything.

Ah - probably not on this 757, not used this one myself, so don't know if it works or not. That's what it's supposed to do though, so it'll be easy to tell
