* yawn *

This is why I want out of IT. Bureaucrats who know nothing about anything are legislating something that will not stop the problem. All that will happen is what has always happened - tracking URLs. Google has done it from day one. Many of the big advertisers do exactly the same thing. It won't even stop companies seeing which ads are displayed as they will simply change the way the data is collected and stored.

All this law will do is make things difficult for existing site owners and developers, though designing a new site to be cookie-free should be easy.

Best regards,
Vulcan.

They aren't enforcing the law until next year in the UK, so you still have time to comply and it doesn't apply to necessary cookies

Check out the ICO website though, looks fantastic

Hey, I agree with Vulcan!!

Another pointless euro law
Ponder the situation. You have to ask the user whether you can save a cookie. They say no. You ask them whether they want you to record the fact that they said no in a cookie. They say no. You ask them...

Cookies are "necessary" for advertisers so there is a loop-hole right there!!!!

EDIT: Was just thinking - it means a lot of sites will be going to court to prove that the cookies are "necessary".

Best regards,
Vulcan.
