MS Train Sim Addons - noobie questions

Hi all. I have MSTS and I installed it today on my Vista SP3 machine, which, in itself, is amazing, as it is designed for Win95! ..
Anyway, I really want some UK and other train routes, so I was looking at this:

Because I use Southern a lot myself, and it caters local station etc. which is cool!

But then I kinda thought First Class Simulations are a bit rubbish - I have had many of their FSX addons and they suck, to be honest.

So what about this:

Is this any good? And, more importantly, how does this work!? do I simply download and install it, and it is as very simple as that, or do I have to do complex other stuff?! I mean, it might not even WORK on Windows Vista... how do I get around this problem? And is train sim still "cool"? is it worth buying a whole new simulator????!!
