Here is the plan
2 x 250GB HD 8MB CACHE in RAID 0
Would this give better perfomance in FSX? or would a single 1TB HD be better with 32MB CACHE
Note: Im only concerened with any performance increase in FSX.
Cheers chaps.

Don't take just my word for it but i've been told that RAID isn't a good idea for FSX. I'm sure someone else will clarify.

Yep - Bad idea.
Most Stripes are of 128kb.
Bad idea for FSX of the large file sizes, no gain in performance at all.
8mb cache is alot worse than the 32mb cache.
Just get the 1Tb 32mb cache, Samsung Spinpoint..?

My new PC's got the Samsung spinpoint. Just a simple 1TB HDD which should do fine. |

Im not sure on the model (its a pre-built) but all the ODs they offer are Samsung. So yeah its Samsung just not sure which model, although it probably is a spinpoint

You'd be better off with having two drives - one for your games (FSX) and one for all your other programs, OS etc... |

Listen to Odai. Forget the RAID setup for the benefit of FSX, you'll get none and will only give yourself the worry of a doubled potential failure rate.
RAID0 benefits reads/writes of large files. FSX loading will be faster but scenery loading is lots of little files, i.e. lots of seaks and loads. RAID0 could potentially be slower than a fast single drive.
As Odai said, stick FSX on its own drive, stick the OS on its own drive. Stick a system managed pagefile on each and forget about it.
Also, don't get fixated on drive cache.

You get better read speeds from RAID 1 (mirrored) than RAID 0, but most people don't realise that.
RAID 0 = better writting
RAID 1 = better reading
It is better in most situations with SATA to have 2 seperate hard disks
