I am a huge fan of (JustFlight) products and when I purchase an item such as downloaded software I am very satisfied with my purchase that I made based on the imformation and description of the product.. After reading about the (Constallation Pro) over and over again I got to the point that I had to have this experience and classic in my ever growing virtual fleet.
Unfortunately , The Connie package is very dissapointing... I want my money back.. But by the time I make the overseas phone call I would not gain a dime.
I'm stuck with Connie like I married the wrong woman.
All I can hope for is that they will come out with service packs to enhance performance and over-all graphics.
The Passenger cabin view is some what of a tease.. And I don't  understand why you have to flip those two swithches on the engineers panel to make the ground crew appear and the stairs to service loading and unloading. I was expecting more animation.
I will continue to be a fan of (JUstFlight) products but this one failed me.

I'm afraid I must agree with fpp. The Connie has been one of my favorite aircraft since it took me to Britain when I was 2 years old! But this one really is over-hyped.

The biggest shortcoming is the lack of any real documentation. The manual is a shadow of what it should have been, and there is nothing in the way of a reference manual or checklist to access in flight by hitting Shift+F10. As I gain experience, I will write out my own checklist and reference guide.

I was also shocked that there were no outside views, other than a couple of lame attempts using VC cameras. You know, in most aircraft, when you hit the S key repeatedly, you cycle through 4 views -- cockpit view, outside view, tower view, aircraft view. But in this case, there are no aircraft views. Thankfully, I've been able to fix that myself so that I can look around outside while I'm flying or while I'm on the ground.

Finally, the cockpit is extraordinarily dark at times, even during midday. Lights have no effect. Considering how important it is in this VC-based cockpit to be able to see the gauges, this is really frustrating. Luckily, I've been able to add a few more camera angles in the VC cockpit to read the various gauges, consoles, and panels.

While I've been able to improve this aircraft, many people would not know how to do what I have done. And we really shouldn't have to make up for the lack of work by the developers.

I am waiting for the boxed version to come out JF,but after reading these reports I now unsure if I want it.
The Connie has always been in my Top Ten Fav. a/c and a must have in my hanger,but to read about these problems is abit of a disappointment.

Mike H, your call of course.  if you've pre-ordered let us know if you want to cancel the order.  I have a feeling you'll be pleasantly surprised with the Connie though. Show me an add-on that hasn't received some criticsim upon release.  Of course it's not perfect, but there will be fixes for known problems over time.

And worth weighing up things here, the Connie has been warmly received elsewhere and also from regular contributors on this forum.  As ever a little discontent tends to overshadow all the praise and appreciation shown for a product.

Ball's in your court though of course. Do what you think's best.

You may like the (CONNIE).. I'm affraid I may have come down a little to hard on the product, not realizing that so many people have put hundreds, perhaps thousands of hours into this (sim) product.

I guess I got intoxicated with the anticipation of being that close to flight history and I may have expected too much from todays technology.. I may have set myself up for the "let-down" that I'm going through right now.

I did notice the light issue as well. Auto pilot could be a little more user-friendly.
How can they fully animate the ground operations?
I thought the ground crew was gonna guide me out of parking.
When I used the (PUSH-BACK) vehicle everything next to the aircraft moves including the stair vehicle and eventually causes a crash.

Thanks for your reply Voice of Reason.
I do have alot of JF products boxed & downloads and when there has been any issues with any of them JF and you guy's on the forum have always come up trumps with help and patches.
So really I should not have any doubts about the Connie.
So roll on mid sept. when I will get my copy.

I've been working on solutions to a couple of the problems I listed earlier. Before making any changes to the aircraft.cfg file, be sure to create a backup copy!! Sorry this post is a bit long, but you will see why in #2.

1. The dark aircraft interior seems to be due to a typographical error in the aircraft.cfg file. In it, you will find these lines:

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo
light.0 = 3,  -5.40, -62.82,  5.10, fx_navredm
   :
light.4 = 1,  -12.30,   0.00, -4.35, fx_beaconh
light.5 =  4, 15.75, 0,   3,  fx_vclighth
light.6 =  4, 27.75, 0, 1.5,  fx_vclight

Noticing the difference between light.5 and light.6, I tried adding an "h" to the end of light.6 and, voila, a brighter cockpit! So just make this change and it will be much easier to read the gauges:
[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo
  :
light.6 =  4, 27.75, 0, 1.5,  fx_vclighth

2. For the missing aircraft views, I created some that I like. To see them for yourself, you can copy and paste these lines into the aircraft.cfg file:

// AIRCRAFT (OUTSIDE) VIEWS
// X (left-right); Y (down-up); Z (backward-forward)

The window title tells you what you are seeing. The views are arranged so that, while you are in the cockpit, you can hit "Shift-S" to cycle backwards directly to the Aircraft Views. You will start with one from a few feet above the cockpit, looking forward. This helps taxiing at strange airports. If you hit "A", your view will move clockwise all the way to a rearward view. To cycle through the views in the counter-clockwise direction, you hit "Shift-A" which takes you all the way around the aircraft to the same tailward view. If you continue past the tailward view, there are a couple of other exterior views that may be interesting. The action of hitting "Shift-S", then either "A" or "Shift-A" becomes quite natural after a while and lets you take a look around the aircraft very easily. When you are ready to return to the cockpit, hit "S" and you're there.

As always, feel free to alter these settings, or even delete unwanted camera views ... it's your aircraft, after all. But always have that backup copy of the aircraft.cfg file to fall back on if you don't like the changes!

boilerbill,...
Thank you for your work on those cameradefinitions.
I have found that adding an h to that #6 light takes away from or overpowers that beautiful blue night time light mapping that the authors of this product did a masterful job on...and yes the V.C. and F.E.'s panel is much brighter for it!

"Noticing the difference between light.5 and light.6, I tried adding an "h" to the end of light.6 and, voila, a brighter cockpit! So just make this change and it will be much easier to read the gauges:
[LIGHTS]

light.6 =  4, 27.75, 0, 1.5,  fx_vclighth "

I guess it's a personal choice -- being able to read the gauges or enjoying the lights in the dark.
