Messerschmitt ME108 Taifun, Its mid afternoon in Frankfurt, A major storm is raging across central europe, just perfect for a flight to Paris then !!
preflight checks

starting up

not the best day for flying prehaps but..

engine started, weathers getting worse.

very strong crosswinds at take off

climbing out into the murk

somewhere near Hanover, at 2,500 ft, aircraft getting blown about violently, pilots thinking I must be mad doing this !!

drpping below the clouds over France

close look at a familiar landmark

approaching Le Bourget

crosswind landing, the narrow undercarriage protesting furiously, struggling to keep her level

finally on the ramp at Le Bourget, think we,ll wait for better weather to fly home !

for those that dont know the ME108 was a prewar German light aircraft that was in fact a thinly disguised ME109 fighter, there were hundreds  built, many serving with the allied forces as communications aircraft when they were captured towards the end of WW2, many still survive today, some have been re-engined but still retain the classic look. this one is in the colours of Willi Messerschmitts personal aircraft from 1935.
The light at the end of the tunnel is a freight train coming the other way !
