I know what SIDs and STARs are but I have never been able to use them in FS9.  Now that I have a few PIC rated add-ons with full SID/STAR capabilities I would like to do them.

Yes I can program the CDU to fly a STAR approach but ATC always vector you on your approach, and we all know what the the vector approaches they give you are like, all twisty and turny.

Anyway to overide this ?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

FS ATC and add-on Sid's and Star's don't mix.

You could however enter all the Sid/Star waypoints into the Flight sim planner and save it as your IFR flight plan.

Personally I never use FS ATC, except for the approach. I Stick to VFR FS ATC.

Thanks Martin, just found the same question on flyawaysimulation's forum and they said the same thing.

I'll stick to VFR like you said or enter the waypoints in the planner.

Hi there,

VFR ATC is good but you won't get landing clearance if the airport is in IFR conditions (low visibility).

I think the best way is to implement the STAR in the FS flight plan.

If the STAR includes a VOR or NDB (most of the time it does in Europe) you can find that transition in the ATC menu too. Ask for it, ATC will clear you to it and won't bother you with vectors.
