Completely agree. Odai, the sad fact of life is that life is NOT fair. The sooner you realize that, the better. Patriotism isn't just about which side you will be on when war breaks out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patriotism Best regards, Vulcan. |

I've decided to not post in the last few threads of Odai's but I'm posting this now because of John's words from the early hours of this morning (UK time). I share you sentiments fully John and it was a pleasure to read such a well versed and thoughtful post - perhaps when others have, let's say, experienced a little more life then they have currently then they will, hopefully, understand things a little better than the black and white they currently paint their views in...

Thank you John for injecting a nice dose of common sense.

What's he supposed to give up? He's already struggling as it is to pay his way. Oh, I know, let's get rid of the kids... |

This isn't directed at anyone in particular lads, but remember to be respectful.
I'm sure there will be the potential when Odai returns, and counters your remarks, for fireworks. Hopefully, he, and you will be well behaved.
If not it will be another locked topic.

Martin,
You misunderstand. Our celebration of Memorial Day is a somber occasion - we reserve the use of fireworks for Indepenence Day on July 4th.

It applies to everyone.
I see responses from others above that could well incite a reaction.
Moan at me as much as you want, I don't care, but the instant I decide this thread steps over the mark it goes to bed without any supper.

. Finally someone has stepped in to stop this thread. It has obviously upset (and angered a few people). Surly the moderators should keep a closer on eye on these threads (especially the ones that are likely to invoke controversy). But I do have to ask the question why did Odai post this topic knowing (or not knowing) that it would irritate certain members, especially after his BNP? If there is a lesson to be learnt from this it is that moderators need to be closer eye on topics and members need to think twice about posting threads.

Well this should've been shut already then, even at the slightest whiff of arguments. But oh no "super moderators" strike again.

We keep a very close eye on topics, thank you very much
When a topic breaks the forum rules, we will take the appropriate action. However we are fans of free speech and there is nothing wrong with a good debate (as long as it doesn't step over the line...) |

Now that just has to be Freudian... Sorry, Martin - I couldn't resist. Actually I agree with you so far - that a word to the wise was called for in this thread and that it hasn't yet crossed the line to the point where it needs to be locked. That will probably happen when the originator of this thread comes and posts again and someone hacks his posting to put something in his mouth that he, being the very model of politeness and decorum, never intended to be there. If we all agree on everything all the time, where's the challenge (or fun) in that? Having some spirited exchange of opinions on some serious topics here is a good thing as long as things remain reasonably respectful. Otherwise, we'll only be left with the likes of Lists of Songs Killed by Kneejerk Reaction to Halfords - or something like that - fascinating I'm sure, but hardly worth staying awake until the wee hours composing a thoughtful response for.
