On my way up to Lincoln today, for the first time ever I had to stop on the A15 for an aircraft landing at Waddington.

I was pleased as punch to see it was a VC-10 tanker ( a la JF/Cpt Sim Hercules). I've not seen a Vic10 in donkeys years - except the one I have residing on my Windows desktop. A fantastic Dave Maltby model, unfortunately without a VC.

Anyway - a fantastic sight, even if he did come in at an alarming roll angle just before touchdown.

Well as I was a couple of miles away, I saw it doing a circuit, so it had definitely already done one approach. I wasn't able to see whether he actually did do another circuit, but I did hear a large engine roar, which at the time, I'd assumed was reverse thrust.

I tried to turn and look, but with arthritis in my neck & shoulders, was unable to.

So mebbe he did.
