Hi mate,
If you look it up on wikpedia you will find all the info you need on the Lockheed Constellation i got it went it was first released and it works great in Air Hauler it carries 6,000 pounds of cargo space if you wanted to know. Cheers, Kymsheba (Mike) |

Hi Guys,
Here I go with my first post, and I am getting started on fuel consumption. I don't know if I have overlooked it, but I am in search of aircraft data for the C-5 Galaxy, Antanov's AN124 and AN-225, can anybody assist? specifically fuel burn per hour, cause all the other detail is easy to find.
cheers for now

Clifford,
Look at these calculations combined via data from various sources. US gal./hour is here calculated for max. range with max. fuel and at cruising speed.

You can get all info on the web except US gal./hour, which you will have to calculate:
Range max. fuel (km) / Cruising speed (kmh) = Duration (hours)
Max fuel (US gal.) / Duration (h) = US gal./hour.
You will often have to convert fuel from either kilogram or liter, but this is a standard conversion.

Look near the bottom of this thread for another method too... It includes the method mhlarsen posted but also another more accurate way to derive it from a test flight in FS.

Pilatus PC 12 Fuel Burn
The PC 12 burns about 60 gph according to this source:
Range: 2172 nm
Burn: 60 gph
This pretty well agrees with the information in this article which states that Pilatus claims a fuel burn of 355 pph but most operators are reporting burn rates of 400 to 450 pph due to different cruise settings than those used by Pilatus to establish their claim.

Using the F1 PC-12 I cruise at 300 pph or less. The engine is ITT limited at 760 degrees C and at some point during the climb you cannot maintain 300 pph any more without busting the OT limit. The PC-12 engine is torque-limited at low altitude and ITT limited at high altitude. ITT is very sensitive to OAT, where a one degree change in outide temperature changes ITT by three or four degrees. My preferred cruise height is FL 260 or 270 if the flight is long enough to get there. It's not unusual to cruise at FL270 at about 250 pph with the ITT maxed out and still have a TAS of 230 knots. Take off and climb begin at about 600 pph but that can't be maintained once ITT begins to bump up against the limit. Initial climb is 1600 fpm if heavy and 2000 if light. It will climb a lot faster but I prefer a cruise climb in a fairly level attitude. I plan my flights for FL260 or 270 if possible, but plan my height so at least 50% of the distance is at cruise. That limits the height for flights less than around 250 NM. |

Okay, that's interesting. It doesn't seem to jibe with the real world numbers I found. I have had the F1 PC12 for FSX for quite a while but had never flown it much, as I usually like the jets. I just purchased one for my career company and am enjoying flying it. I have to play with it a little more to learn all of its little secrets. Unfortunately with my company based in Tahiti, there aren't many flights where I can get up to the altitudes you were talking about. Thanks for your observations, John.

Funny, I was just editing my a380 aircraft.cfg file to fix some incoherence between the cargo capacity in AH and the one reported by the manufacturer. I've based all my calculations on the A380-800R which has been made yet (due 2010 I think) but here is what I've found:
I've configured this in aircraft.cfg (for the a380) MTOW=1,300,000 lbs Empty weight=556,000 lbs This is in Air Hauler: Cruise speed=510 Kts Fuel burn=7457 USG/hr Range=5600 nm Flap damage=263 Kts (should probably be 222 Kts to be more accurate but flaps 1 is allowed to slow down below 263 Kts and I don't want to let AH think that it will damage my 298 millions dollars aircraft if I do that...) Gear damage=250 Kts Leaving me with a payload of 197,950 lbs for my cargo and 81,500 US gallons of fuel max. It's not close from the official payload (which is 330,00 lbs) but I think it's good enough until I can figure out where is gone the rest of the payload. Have fun ;-) Gregory |

One quick place to look to find V limits (at least for FSX add-ons) is right in the Airplanes directory. In it you'll usually find the *ref.htm. Open it - you should get everything you need.
ie: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Beech_King_Air_350\beech_king_air_350_ref.htm Sometimes the fuel burn rate isn't there, but add-on developers normally give you enough info to do the math, ie, fuel tank capacity (volume) and if you have the max range (distance), throw your cruise speed in the mix and there you go. If you have the max endurance (time) and fuel capacity, even better. |

I'm having some issues adding aircraft details for the Premier Aircraft Design Falcon 7x. I've set the cruise speed to 465 knots. I feel that's a bit on the low side, however I have found so many different cruise speeds listed on the internet for this aircraft. Then I check the ref file included with the aircraft. It shows the maximum operating speed as 350 knots or .90 mach. These two speeds do not match.
I've then tried to figure out the fuel consumption. I ended up with 382 gph after much searching. I have no idea if this is correct. In the end after clicking ok I see that the cargo capacity of the aircraft is showing -297.0996. Any ideas on how to correct this? |
