Yep... no messing with Hillary, she claims she will obliterate Iran if they nuke Israel.
Is she the new 'Iron Lady'?

She's just won Philadelphia, and the following comment makes me wonder if US presidents 'buy' their way into office.

Lets just hope she doesn't make it into power, she seems blooming useless. With her constant changing of opinion on important issues, she will probably be discussing an alliance with Iran next
It will be amusing to see her try and wriggle out of this one when she realises what a stupid thing to say it was. Wouldn't be the first time! |

Was it that unexpected? I thought that would have been a standard response. If an enemy of the US launches a nuclear attack on one of it's allies then surely it would expect the US to retaliate in kind. Just as if somebody launched a nuke at the UK or how we would respond if somebody launched against the US/France/Australia etc?
She has just said what I already thought was the case. |

Very true, however there is something which all leaders need to pocess...diplomacy. It just looks wholly unprofessional to make statements like this. Its on par with the time she was asked to name the next Russia present, "Meh, uhm, Me-ned-vadah -- whatever."

Yes, I agree with MartYn, it is the case of course that you can't allow dictators to throw nukes at you allies, their is such a thing as balance of power. If you don't respond then the future for the planet is dire.
However... as martyn alluded to, diplomatically it wasn't the right approach, the usual response from politicians is to talk around the issue and allude to the consequences of such an action.
She does seem to be a little less in control of her mouth than is ideal.
They elected Bush though didn't they and we all remember his campaign.

The next US president will probably be McCain - meaning, that both candidates of the democrats are less than ideal and busy going at each other's throat. Let's face it, can a woman or a black man score in the bible belt? They will get the more educated coasts, but that's not enough to win the election. So, Hillary's big mouth seems to be the least of the problems. In all probability, the world will have to cope with the "bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" bloke. Another useless war and an even bigger gap between the continents. And probably with an economical crisis unseen since the 30ies.

She's a politician - it comes with the territory. As for nuking each other... ho-hum... |

...who said Israel would let them obtain a viable Nuke? It's very unlikely that situation would ever occur; Israel would be in Iran long before then. Best regards, Vulcan. |

Those war talks make me wonder what lesson politicians learned from the two world wars in the past century...

In short - nothing. Especially the US politicians have learned the wrong lessons and the main reason seems to be, that they haven't seen war on their own soil since 1865.
Patriotism and fear mongering is also an excellent tool to keep the public from asking too many questions. Such as about rising energy or food prices or - god forbid - health care.

Agreed. That's real sad... Instead of taking care of more important issues, they talk about another show in the Middle east... VERY NICE!

You might call it a side-show!!
One thing that isn't being mentioned is that food shortages and rise in prices is because the corn that would have been used for food has gone into biofuels this year, creating a shortage for the food markets. The reason this has happened is because farmers can get more $$ for biofuel then they could if it was sold for food. Best regards, Vulcan. |

'Those war talks make me wonder what lesson politicians learned from the two world wars in the past century... '
It's nothing to do with lessons learned from two wars... actually if there is a lesson to be learned from two world wars, it's to do with allowing a threat like Nazi Germany to increase its military might and occupy surrounding states, while at the time we were reducing our armed forces and the generals playing golf all day. During the second world war, the world wasn’t prepared at all for the might of Nazi Germany, my father in the home guard aged 17 spent weeks testing crates of weapons sent over to us from the US, quite simply because our armed forces were so under equipped. So there's your lesson, when there's a potential threat in the world then 'balance of power' is critical. The basis of Hilary’s comment was valid, however, it was her diplomacy that was lacking. |

I'd say the balance of power is different here, Iranians clearly don't have the same resources as the Israelis or Americans, rather, others don't want to see them take a few nukes out their pocket... Having seen the Iranian government's incapacity to rule their own country properly, I doubt that there's any other threat than nukes, which have yet to be officially unveiled...
I do agree with you on her lack of diplomacy. |
