FS9 boots me back to XP menu screen

   After adding scenery & aircraft & EZ Scenery to my FS9, I was going along merrily for a few months and then FS9 started to play up by shutting down and restarting successively until I shut my computer down. Eventually I reformatted the harddrive and reinstalled FS9. Once all the add-ons had been loaded, I copied my backup copy of FS9 to the various folders (scenery, traffic, etc). Began to play and found that when I got to certain airports, FS9 booted me out and back to the blue XP start-up screen. I then have to click on the FS9 icon and start all over again.

Specs: Quad core, Nvidia 880GTX, 2 GB RAM, 512 MB HDD, WinXP.

Any ideas what could be going wrong and how to fix it?
