As a web host I don't want Phorm bouncing off my servers 3 times per visit per site at all! For a start it is wholly unnecessary! What is it doing that requires it to hit it 3 times, anyway??????? This will slow down the 'net even more, and cause congestion. It's all very well saying it goes to a site 3 times, and transfer data etc.. but that data has to be carried by the networks. If it is carrying data from ISPs, then the effective data throughput probably just tripled, at a time when the networks are hardly coping as it is!! Unless they're prepared to upgrade the backbone of the internet (and I'm talking the under-sea cabling between continents), then this isn't going to work in the long term, simply because of infrastructure. I wait long enough now for certain sites, never mind adding yet another layer of bulk to slow it down further! Best regards, Vulcan. |
