This is crazy!! They're happy to blow £9 Billion on the Olympics, yet they can't manage to find £80 million to help out science? It's insanity! We're going to lose some great research, not to mention the people. If funding appears somewhere else for this kind of research, I can see our people disappearing immediately. This is the kind of thing I'm happy to pay more tax for! Just to put this in perspective: the sc rapping of the 10p rate of tax, despite the drop of the 22p rate to 20p, raised an additional £7.4 Billion pounds for the treasury in that single move. Give £250 Million of it to scientific research!!
WHAT???!!!
Well............. let's go back to the 50s shall we? Blue Streak, our nuclear missile project, was SrubbishPED before it entered service, and then (if that wasn't bad enough) we gave everything to the French, for £1. Wonder where Ariane Space came from? Directly out of our Blue Streak project!!! Instead of giving funding to the ESA, and paying the French to launch rockets, WE could have been the ESA, TAKING money for said launches. We had the best space program (and nuclear weapons program) of anyone on this planet, yet in true style, the UK Government (censored) up time after time, and srubbishs perfectly good research. Forget trying to be the world leaders in science now on some whim of a PM trying to gain votes - that idea was blown up much earlier than people realize. We're still dealing in large part with the effects of the past. Research isn't where it could have been had it not been for mistakes of the past. Best regards, Vulcan. |

Shear madness isn't it. And if you remember the funding crisis was a result of government incompetence anyway, they made a huge blunder that caused all of this.
Bring on the next general election.

Amen!! (You mean the one that got canceled?). What a sham. Shouldn't be allowed. Right now we have an unelected leader running this country! Best regards, Vulcan. |

Best regards, Vulcan. |
