I have just discovered that on my mouse it's not the right click on the AP mode selector that activates the altitude hold but a scroll wheel click.

Yes, and the AP source switch,
middle button/scroll wheel click selects GPS as source I think it's in the manual |

I spent several weeks writing the manual so please give it a least a skim read
As you say, altitude hold is toggled using middle-mouse button (or mouse-wheel) or you can use the keyboard assignment (Ctrl+Z). Thanks Martyn
