Hi,
The depiction of weather had a potted history in FS9/FSX/P3D, as it wasn't always possible to portray weather and/or moisture content accurately. However, now with weather programs such as Active Sky and Flight Simulator Global Real Weather, weather reporting is accurate and stable, especially in conjunction with texture sets such as AS and REX, where weather can look very realistic indeed. Quality developers such as PMDG and Aerosoft include weather radar's in their aircraft as standard today, and Just Flight, CLS, and QualityWings used to include blank placeholder gauges so that end users could fit their own third party weather radar gauges, as demonstrated in several quality aircraft such as the BAe 146 from both JF and QW. When a weather radar can be fitted as standalone gauge such as in the BAe146, then it's an easy job, but if the weather radar is to be fitted as part of the PFD or ND displays, then it's not possible, and this is understandable. What I would really like to ask Just Flight is whether they might insist on blank gauge placeholders to be made part of every aircraft where it is possible to do so. It's a small thing to ask, but it has a huge impact I have had dialogue with Aeroplane Heaven about this idea, and they like the idea as a whole; in particular, we spoke about equipping a blank placeholder for a weather radar into their forthcoming BAe 1-11, as well as retrofitting their delightful Fokker F27 with the same. It's a very small detail to ask, but one that has significant impact on end users and the immersion of their aircraft. Aeroplane Heaven replied that the onus is on Just Flight to ask for this to be done, and that too is understandable, even if a small modification would thus be needed for a future F27 service pack . I would buy both the F27 and the 1-11 in a heartbeat if such a facility existed, and it's possible that this may apply to other potential customers. Today's PC's are capable of running high detail levels, but if not, end users without more capable PC's have the option of not fitting such a weather radar gauge. So please may we have an answer from a Just Flight representative who is at the level where such decisions are made? Thanks you in advance, Fabio Lagattolla
