cant program a flight plan in E175

   When I open the E-Jet's FMS to input a flight plan, I go to NAV pg 2 > POS INIT. Here I see 3 lines, last position, REF WPT and GPS 1 POS. My problem is the 2nd line, REF WPT has no airport or LAT LON. there's nothing there except dashes and am unable to input an airport. When I select "FLT PLAN" there's no departure airport and the FMS wont allow me to select one, it's as if the FMS doesn't know where its at. I've tried installing this plane in FS9 & FSX(sp2) & it's the same issue. I've uninstalled reinstalled and have installed navigraph to make sure the database is up to date. 

If anyone has any suggestions or knows how I can post a screen shot I'd sure love to hear it.
