I heard about Thunder City being shut down when one of there Lightnings crashed resulting in the tragic death of one of there pilots. But whats goin gto happen to there aircraft will they be sold or scraped.

I find this quite surprising. An utter tragedy that a pilot has been killed.

However, anybody that operates these old, powerful military machines knows and accepts there is a significant risk. They are ultra high performance military war machines, danger is inherent.

It would be a bit like one of the tragic accidents we have seen at UK air shows, despite the precautions that are taken these days... so they ban all air shows.

I think they may be overreacting by shutting down Thunder City.

I do agree its a shame the Lightning cant fly over here.

That happened a while ago. They sold off the aircraft AFAIK.

Yep. A combination of finance, regulatory fallout and the 2009 crash (Thunder City "rejected" the SACAA's findings).
