Or more work for the met men to accurately predict areas of turbulence, therefore putting the daily Atlantic routes in the correct place!

As technology improves, and spacing can be lowered, there's every chance more aircraft will be allowed into narrower corridors (Atlantic airspace is "procedurally" controlled) with far less separation anyway, allowing greater flexibility to avoid known areas.

The report says there are 600 flights daily between Europe and North America. Say a low estimate of 250 passengers per flight, that makes 15,000 people crossing the North Atlantic every day. Incredible!
 
Does anyone have the stats for how many people are in the air at any one time?
