I'm thinking of upgrading my PC to get better results when I'm flying, fps etc,. For example some planes like the Connie, CLS 747, A320/330/340 all run about 23 to 30 fps in the VC when set on unlimited fps. This is with all the scenery settings at zero, at 30,000ft I don't need it. Other planes, DC6 and CLS MD81 are a bit jumpy and down to 15 or less fps. I'm running FSX with Acceleration on Windows Vista Home Basic (I know).
This is my kit at present: NVIDA Geforce 9400 GTO; Radeon Connect 3Dx1550; processor AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core 4400+. Please can anyone give me some simple guidance on upgrading with a budget of about £150-£200. Any assistance will be gratefully received.

A very tight budget so options are limited, but you would potentially see a nice performance boost by investing in a core upgrade (CPU, Motherboard & RAM).
For example an Intel I3-3220 a suitable Z77 motherboard and 8GB RAM can be had for around £195 You could then upgrade to a faster CPU to increase FSX performance when funds allow and a much better GPU as required. |
