I was never a fan of Flight given its limitations of various natures.  However, I find it appalling that MS have laid these people off when their talents could be better served by improving FSX.

Rumour is that Lockheed have bought the rights to Flight Sim, which would explain their Prepar3d simulation which incorporates Microsoft's ESP technology (http://www.prepar3d.com/)

They purchased the rights and the source code for ESP (the commercial use version of FSX SP2) a while ago now to allow them to develop Prepar3d. This does not include the regular retail version of FSX, which is still Microsoft's property. ESP (and therefore Prepar3d) has a strict license agreement, and is only to be sold for commercial use (training, product testing etc). It prohibits use for entertainment and recreational purposes.
Kind regards,
Tom

I'm very happy to hear that MS listen to the serious "SIMMERS" out there and discontinued the "Flight Simulator Wannabe" called simply "Flight".
The name of the product gave us our first clue that we were not gonna stick with it.
It was a game and not a true simulator..
We the (SIMMERS)prevailed once again.. Long live Microsoft Flight Simulator. Yea!!!

Those who do not learn from history are condemned to re-live it.  It's a good reminder, lest we forget and be led up the garden path again.  Some actually believed that clap-trap was going to be the future of flight simulation.  It doesn't hurt to have a reminder how poor it was.
Also, JF does not delete things from their forums unless it is spam or otherwise offensive.  As bad as it was, Flight was not quite spam.

It's a shame they haven't sold the code or opened it up for someone to carry on with development as I feel the code had great potential for a sim.

Rick.
