HI, I was wondering if it were possible to land the aircraft using the ILS and if it is, can someone explain the proceedure? Thanks.

If you mean can the autopilot do it, then no! if you mean how do you do it then here's the simple rules...
(1) Set your ILS Frequency on the Nav 1 radio in the overhead. (2) Switch the Nav 1 audio on and confirm the morse signal is the same as that for the ILS beacon. (Makes sure you land where you think you are going) Switch it off again as it's irritating. (3) Set the ILS heading using the course select knob on the heading indicator. (4) Your ILS indicator is immediately below the ASI & Altimeter. Ideally line up with the heading while the glideslope indicator is still showing you below the glideslope as you come oto the glideslope, throttle back to increase your rate of descent and follow it down. Hope this helps. |
