I think it's nice and all to see sharp and clean looking instruments panel, but it would be nice to also see a worn out aged cockpit, with the famous green padded panels. Another nice option would be the ability to install some RealityXP GNS 430 or 530 to the more modern looking cockpits.

I would like to second that. Would be great to be able to use the DC-3 in a 'nowadays' version e.g for a Herpawings version or any other flying museum version of the DC-3.

I feel the same about the DC3 package. I love those classic planes, but you cannot fly them in a realistic way in "modern FSX environment" . In real life those planes should be equipped with modern navigation and radios and a transponder.  So what we need here is an panel update together with some liveries of Dakotas still flying. (Duggy Foundation, Herpa Wings to name e few) The same aplies to the Constellation as well.

Another solution might be that one of the scenery develloppers starts a new series of airport sceneries called "Classic Airports" or "Airports of the Fifties". (We have that freeware stuff in FS9)  Just imagine landing your DC-3 at Liverpool Speke or start a cross channel flight from Lydd to Le Touquet ??

Well, there's always something to dream about, isn't it?

What's wrong with VOR/NDB tracking? That's still available in the modern FSX environment?

And you don't need a transponder really in FSX, it doesn't do very much, except that ATC want you to set it. If you don't bother with FS ATC, you don't need it.

@slopey

Problem is, that people like me do their flights (also the AirHauler Flights) in Networks like IVAO. And there you simply HAVE TO have a transponder, else you will get problems like me a few days ago. The controllers then expect you to add a Radio panel that features a transponder. Which was the first thing I've did after doing my test round with the DC-3^^
