We are very pleased to announce that we will be publishing the Boxed version of the hotly anticipated new helicopter sim, Take On Helicopters.

This stand-alone sim has been developed by Bohemia Interactive, a name you may well recognise as the creative force behind the world-famous Arma Armed Assault.

In Take On Helicopters you take on the role of a civilian helicopter pilot and will need to prove your flight skills in a range of challenges in two beautifully rich landscapes based on real-world North American and South Asian terrain data. A family flying business is on the verge of closure, and as part of the family it's up to you to take on contracts and competitors. The helicopters are superbly modelled, with authentic flight dynamics, and an easy-to-use Mission Editor is also included - see the Take On Helicopters page for screenshots and more information.

We'll have more details on the Boxed edition very soon, but in the meantime you can pre-order the Download edition of Take On Helicopters for £31.49 / €35.99 / $42.49, plus double Just Rewards points - that's £7.56 off any future purchase from us!

Note: Take On Helicopters is officially released on the 15th November, but pre-order it and you'll get immediate access to a limited beta version of the game. Once it's released (we'll drop you a brief email!) you can simply download the final version.

How deep does the flight model go?

Best regards,
Vulcan.

Hi.

Can you say whether the boxed edition will be available before Christmas?

(Yes, I do still listen to Led Zep on vinyl, and through big headphones...)

Cheers,
D

No comment on the realism then?

Best regards,
Vulcan.

I've never flown a helicopter or have much experience of them in a sim. Not really my bag, especially as they are so horrible to fly in FS.
However, TOH seems very good to me. It's not purely focused on being a ultra-realistic helicopter simulator as there is a lot more to the "game" than that. Most of the systems that I'd expect to be present are there. Have a look at the video showing the helicopter start up, should give an idea of what's featured: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/tutorial-gameplay-trailer/722117

Isn't that the one done with the Operation Flashpoint engine and by the same team? Think there's a review on SimHQ.

Yes, created by Bohemia.

Based on the ARMA engine, which is based on the OPF engine!
