Hi, not sure if this has been talked about on here before. I tried playing FSX in the Nvidia 3D mode today and thought it was pretty cool.
I had to hunt high and low around town for a pair of 3D glasses, could not find any anywhere, as a last resort I went into Blockbusters and the guy behind the counter gave me 5 pairs for free.
Anyway just wonder what others think of fsx in 3D.

I haven't seen it, but it sounds amazing. Any frame rate hit?

Used to play FS9 in 3D using 3Dimmensional 3d glasses and a crt. Looked pretty good in short spells, never spent long with it though since you tended to get tired quicker. Guages tended to be harder to see as well and a little dimmer because of the shutter glasses.

I looked into this and the nvidia version looks amazing but it pretty much halfs your FPS. If you got the power then its worth it

"nvidia version looks amazing but it pretty much halfs your FPS"
Have not noticed any frame rate drop and my system is not the fastest around.
I took another flight in the realair spit this evening and it was outstanding, the gauges seemed pretty good to me, you really do get a feeling of depth with 3D, which is something FS has always lacked for me.
As I said it's well worth a try considering it's free

If they are still using shutter glasses then it can't but lower your effective fps since it renders each 'scene' independently for each eye.

piperman,
I tried it too the other day but could not see aany 3D effect with the red blue glasses (hitting Ctrl T didn't have an effect) In otherwords, no red blue separation.
It did work in other games though.
Did you have to mess arounf with FSX to get it to work for you? Are you running it in DX9 or 10?

Hi, thats odd that it worked with other games. I had to enable 3D discover and set up stereoscopic in the Nvidia control panel apart from that I did nothing.

Shutter or polarised glasses show alternate frames, thus require high refresh rates and potentially suffer fps loss as a result.

I've got some new "Real3D" glasses I picked up from the screening of Avatar.
Will these work with the shutter method?
