Growing up in Africa, I get excited at the prospect of snow even at my age. Only saw my first snow on my 18th birthday - 10th September 1981 when we had heavy snow in Jo'burg.

Oh yay!  It'll be like February all over again!  Roads and public transport in complete turmoil!
Kind regards,
Tom

But the Swedes cope with the snow and ice. I love driving in the snow.

I do a lot driving all over Scotland and north England to see clients. Snow just adds a new challenge.

My Sky engineer on Wednesday might get his extremities frostbitten then.

I had a lovely drive coming back from a pub about 14 miles from where I live. Un-gritted country roads and a lot of light feeling steering, but to my surprise was the car behind me - it stayed well back - something very unusual for freakin idiots in tin cans.

I agree. When I drive I am very aware of the conditions and respond to the driving conditions, self preservation and consideration for others on the road is the most important. Having learnt to fly an aeroplane had it spin off's with regard to driving. I had airmanship drilled into me.

Don't worry Martin!  My car's staying safe and sound in the garage!  Not risking it!

You can risk it, but you've got to know your limits.

Rear wheel drive. Yep. Was a BMW stuck on the hill outside our house last time, was sliding all over the place, not a chance in hell of getting up there.

A Discovery came past, hooked up a rope and pulled it up without a problem.

Youngsters? Around here it is the older drivers that seem to drive like the idiots.

Best regards,
Vulcan.
