DDR3 triple-channel architecture is used in the Intel Core i7 family of processors (9xx), which are used on the Socket LGA1366 platform (X58). AMD Socket AM3 processors do not use the DDR3 triple-channel architecture, but use DDR3 dual-channel memory kits instead. The same applies to the Intel Core i5 and Core i7 (8xx) processor family, which are used on the Socket LGA1156 platform (P55). According to Intel, a Core i7 with DDR3 operating at 1066 MHz will offer peak data transfer rates of 25.6 GB/s when operating in triple-channel interleaved mode. This, Intel claims, leads to faster system performance as well as higher performance per watt.[1]

When operating in triple-channel mode, memory latency is reduced due to interleaving, meaning that each module is accessed sequentially. Data is spread amongst the modules in an alternating pattern.

The architecture can only be used when all three, or a multiple of three, memory modules are identical in capacity and speed, and are placed in triple-channel slots. When two memory modules are installed, the architecture will operate in dual-channel mode.[2]

Best regards,

Vulcan.

Well W2F do test their RAM before despatch so it might be a little longer.

Windows 7 is great! Which version do you own?

So the majority of the conponents arrived today. I am expecting Windows 7 early next week, the RAM Friday and I have just ordered an extra case fan for my Antec 300 (seen as there is space for one). Hopefuly I can build for the 20th or 13th.

I have the i7 running at 31 degrees C. We are still trying to sort out this internet issuie (but maybe solved when I install netgear.) I have 4 fans and they all run silently. Overall its going well bar the slight teething problem.

Good to hear!  I'm currently using my new i7 rig too.  Haven't had the chance to properly use FSX yet because i'm still downloading REX!  Mine's overclocked to 3.6GHz and is running at 35 degrees C.
Kind regards,
Tom

Do you have the ethernet cable plugged in?  Are your TCP/IP settings set to dynamic?

Once these are checked go into command prompt and type:

ipconfig -all

post the results here.  If there is no IP information found, that's your problem and you need to request it from the DHCP server by issuing the command:

ipconfig -renew
Kind regards,
Tom

I suppose its because your on a x64 OS. I had the same problem with my Sisters wireless adapter. It works fine under x86, but doesn't want to know x64, and Linksys don't want to know about it.
